Little River Park Construction

One of the most rapidly expanding metro Atlanta cities, is trying to make sure that it still has its nature value, to make sure that the city stays green. Woodstock is now spending $8.1 million on parks and nature trails. Little River Park is the largest city park project that the city has seen in the past 100 years, where the park is estimated to be completed by spring 2027.

The 100-acre future park is being built right next to Little River. This new park is not just a new area for playgrounds for little kids; it is more than that. This is a perfect way, as the city gets more crowded every year. This is a perfect way to save nature as this project is projected to be completed by 2027. This new park will act as the city's main trail central by connecting many local trails and leading to Little River Elementary School.

Stacy Brown, the Marketing and Communications Manager at the city of Woodstock, says this about the new trails going up. “There will be 1.75 miles of trail inside Little River Park. The Little River Trail Park Connector will tie Little River Park to Little River Elementary School with the construction of a 10-ft multi-use path that provides a potential future trail connection at the western most portion of the trail. At this time, these trails will not yet connect neighborhoods in the area of the park to Downtown Woodstock. You can see all completed, funded and proposed trails in Woodstock's Green prints Trail System in this Web App available on the City of Woodstock Data Hub.”

Nearby neighborhoods will also have trails coming from roundabouts to get into the park with ease. This will help the residents of Woodstock have a place to go enjoy the nature walks and the scenery that the city has to offer. Jermey Parker, Director of Public Works at City of Woodstock, Georgia, has this to say about the new trails going into neighborhoods. “The roundabout at Trickum Road and Nocatee Trail includes pedestrian infrastructure that will allow residents of nearby neighborhoods to safely access the park. The park entrance will be at the eastern spur of the roundabout.”

The city of Woodstock is thrilled to be opening a park that will be completely welcoming to the community and will begin a new with all of the trails that are going up. Brian Borden, Parks and Recreation Director, says this is about the new park that the city of Woodstock is looking forward to opening to the public. “Little River Park is the largest parks project in Woodstock's history and coordinating that much activity across 110 acres is challenging. Still construction remains on track, and we are looking forward to welcoming the community to this incredible asset that will usher in a new era of recreation in Woodstock."

The new local trails and tracks are going to be a great spot for the local citizens to enjoy their city. Little River Park is going to be a backyard playground for the local neighborhoods where families can get together, enjoy the outdoors, or go for a walk. The rapidly expanding city of Woodstock is getting the small town feel with the 110-acre land that is coming in spring 2027.
